Can you identify the mineral above collected near Combermere, Ontario?

This is a crystal of corundum found in the mine dumps at Craigmont Corundum Mine near Combermere. Over 400 people worked in the mine during the early 1900s. Corundum is the second hardest mineral next to diamond. Although sapphires and rubies are actually corundum, the corundum mined here was rarely gem quality but it was widely used as industrial abrasives until synthetic corundum was invented.
